KEN’S STORY

While vacationing with his family at Grayton Beach, Florida, Ken rushed to help a boy who was swept out in a rip current. After the boy was safely on shore, Ken swam out to save the boy’s father who had also been carried away by the current. After first responders arrived, they were able to revive Ken but no the other father. After Two Days in ICU, Ken passed from drowning on what is now known as “Black Sunday” on the Florida Panhandle.

THE BRINDLEY FAMILY

We are Melanie, Madeline, and Blake Brindley, wife and children of Ken. Our lives changed forever when Ken swam in for an open water rescue. Waiting on first responders, rip current awareness, and following a red flag warning could have kept Ken with us. The KBM Foundation honors Ken with providing water safety advocacy, swim scholarship assistance, and continuing Ken;s legacy of always being a Good Samaritan to help those in need.
